- January Depression got you in it’s grips already? Don’t despair, positive signs abound. The days are getting longer (we added an entire minute of daylight today. Woot!) There are only 76 days until Spring. Most importantly, there are motorcycle shows to get you up off the couch and out of the house. This weekend the Progressive International Motorcycle Shows visit the Washington DC Convention Center for three days, January 4 -6. Then in two weeks (Jan. 18-20) the show makes its way up I-95 to New York City and the massive Jacob Javits Center. If a day with hundreds of bikes, bike related “stuff” and a 100% motorcycle enthusiast crowd can’t chase away the blues then, well, there may well be no hope. - Like old bikes? Check this out. Some pretty talented friends from our neck of the woods have been working for a long time putting together a professionally produced TV show called Retro Moto. These guys have cooked up a great show about classic bikes and the people who love to ride them. With interviews from around the world, unseen vintage race footage, custom motorcycle builds and plenty of on road footage this one is definitely “can’t miss TV” for old bike aficianados. After chasing up lots of dead ends they have finally found an outlet and are going to get some national air time. The first episode of Retro Moto drops this weekend as a segment on the PBS show Motorweek on January 5th and 6th. It’ll then pop on Velocity on January 22. Check your local listings. Way to go John, Matt, and friends!
- With all the excitement of the holidays maybe you missed the fact that New Jersey Motorsports Park has added an American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) date for 2013. The NJMP Vintage Motorcycle Festival, featuring AHRMA Racing is scheduled for August 2-4. A mega cool new event right in our backyard, and a nice adjunct to the return of the Geico AMA Pro road racing at NJMP on the weekend of September 13-15.
